Dedicated to Working and Sports Dogs of the Black Hills
Wolfpack Working Dogs was established in 2009, when two dog trainers from very different backgrounds moved into the Black Hills of SD that fall. They soon met up with like-minded people who understood that SAR and Schutzhund weren’t that much different. The balanced approach to training, the working dog drive, the fitness, and the nutrition were far more similar than different. The merged styles complimented rather than contradicted, with each discipline learning from the other. We continue to break the stigma, to recognize that some dogs do well in one or the other, but the occasional few are capable of both. Wolfpack Working Dogs remains dedicated to bringing all working dog handlers together to learn and grow with each other and enjoy our dogs while giving them the opportunity to be their best, no matter what direction that takes them. Potential members are welcome to join us. Becoming a member of our organization means that you value being a team player, understand the rules of fair play, are willing to train hard, work hard and leave drama and negativity behind.
Search and rescue teams are a proven lifesaving resource. When crisis situations arise involving missing persons, one or more dog-and-handler teams are called in to help. These highly trained teams assist with searches for missing people in a variety of different environments. WPWD club members actively train in all types of elements and conditions in the event that assistance is need in local area searches.
Wolfpack Working Dogs is a member of DVG-LV America and has members that actively compete in the working dog sport of IGP (formally known as Schutzhund). IGP Dog Sport consists of Dog and Handler teams that compete in 3-phases, Tracking, Obedience, and Protection. Trials are held at local club, regional, and national levels with competitors having the ability to qualify for international events as well.
